Brain Gym
"Movement is the door to learning."
(Paul Dennison, Ph.D.)
Having worked with children since I was a young adult, in school holiday programs, after school care, and coaching basketball locally and at rep levels, I have a lot of experience with children and their needs and problems . My own children have also been an inspiration for me, especially as a professional woman who found being a mother less than easy.
I have since studied Brain Gym, and Primitive Reflexes Integration. The fact that through movement and fun exercises, we can stimulate and regrow or establish neural pathways that help with learning difficulties, movement issues, injuries, trauma and behavioural problems not only amazes me, but has allowed me to help children and parents alike.
Brain Gym uses different specific movements that assist with integrating the brain, senses and body. This program uses the principle of moving with intention helps enhance learning, co-ordination, concentration, memory and cognitive skills.
Brain Gym can be used in classrooms, for athletes to achieve better concentration and coordination, and even with adults who are looking to improve any and all of these areas.
Kinesiology integrates well with Brain Gym as it becomes another tool at my disposal to assist my clients achieve holistic growth.
“Brain Gym consists of 26 easy and enjoyable targeted activities that bring about rapid and often dramatic improvements in concentration, memory, reading, writing, organizing, listening, physical coordination, and more.”
